FAQ
What is a made-to-order product?
A made-to-order product is only prepared (produced) once the customer has ordered it and the transaction has been completed. The money from your order is used to place a manufacturing request with our manufacturers, which is then processed, and the final product is shipped to you directly. We don't have an inventory of finished made-to-order products. Instead, we wait to make your products until you order them.
Can I return my item(s)?
Any of our made-to-order products are clearly labeled on their product page and the return policy for such items is listed:
”*This product is made-to-order which means this product is unique and produced only once ordered. This also means that returns and exchanges are not supported if you order the wrong size, color, or simply changed your mind.
However, in case of a damaged product or a manufacturing error, we offer a free reproduction (no return of original item nessesary) if you contact us within 30 days of product delivery.
Please allow approximately 10 days for payment processing and manufacturing before tracking numbers are emailed*”
I just placed my order. When will I receive my shipping confirmation?
Please allow approximately 10-14 days to process your payment and for your order to be produced. We will send you a shipping notification as soon as a tracking number is assigned by the manufacturer. If you have any questions about your order, reach out to us via our Contact Page
Where can I find sizing charts for the items here?
Navigate the Sizing section of the website and look up the chart for the product category you are interested in.
Is Saintly Submission a team? Or an academy?
No. Saintly Submission is not a team or an academy that you can register to compete under at a tournament or an event, but we LOVE this question because we thought about it a lot ourselves! Ultimately, the decision to become a clothing brand instead of a gym or a team was made because we could reach far more people without being stuck in a single geographic location. Also, if we ever became a team, then our customers might be limited in where they can wear our products because of academy uniform requirements (ugh). Do you want to represent your team or affiliation and Saintly Submission simultaneously? No problem! Our products have plenty of room for screen printing or embroidering on other sponsors, teams, brands, etc. We want to help you represent and present what you believe (if that has something to do with Jesus).
Is jiu-jitsu or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a cult? Or at least un-Biblical?
We are so glad you came to us for the answer to this question! The answer is:
It depends. Are you being asked or expected to be complicit in any sinful activity at your jiu-jitsu school or academy? If so, then it is still sinful to sin (shocking, I know). Consider very carefully what it is worth to be in an environment that demands you to violate your conscience. Fortunately, there are many places to train and learn these days, and you can likely find a better situation that won't be an issue! Or you can start your own!
Just remember, if you're going to train jiu-jitsu, it's likely that you will meet other people who don't believe what you believe. In fact, this is one of the greatest parts of grappling! It is also a huge opportunity to minister to people who have shut off every other avenue that ministry might reach them.
But is it a cult?
Martial arts can be used to create cults in a very similar way that churches can be used to create cults. As a general rule of thumb, cults are easy to join, and hard to leave. Does that sound like your church? (yikes!) Some academies still require lengthy contracts, but leaving should be as simple as paying any fees associated with that and not coming back.
Pay attention to the teaching at the academy to make it even simpler to determine if any given gym or academy is actually a front for a cult or a cult-like following of its leader. Does it frequently go beyond the science of leverage and physically controlling the human body or simple mindset advice and dabble in arcane knowledge of the universe? A new philosophy on ethics? Is there a set of rules being preached for life outside of the gym besides eating healthy? Are people being punished publicly at the academy? If it seems like these things are happening and students worship the instructor on and off the mats, you probably found yourself in at least a mild-intensity cult.
There are cults in the grappling world, and most often, they involve groups of HIGHLY DEDICATED athletes, all idolizing a particular goal, usually with a charismatic leader at their center. Cult leaders rely on being able to make increasing demands on you over time until you become totally compliant. Be wary of being manipulated by attacks on your dedication, work ethic, or willingness to sacrifice for greatness, and you'll be safe from getting sucked into these kinds of environments.
Most gyms and academies teach grappling curriculum and other martial arts and focus on providing that service exclusively. A lot of instructors use their academies as a ministry (and can still end up being cult-like...), but if you stick with jiu-jitsu long enough, you'll eventually see or hear about some clearly culty behavior somewhere. It will be easy to spot! The important thing is to know it up front and get out early. You don't have to join a cult to get good at jiu-jitsu.
Do I have to be a "Christian" or follow Christ to wear Saintly Submission gear?
Absolutely not! The stories of the Bible mean many things to many people. If you want to express that with our products, that is up to you! We are honored to have you sporting our gear!
Furthermore, just because someone wears Saintly Submission apparel does not mean they are devout followers of Christ! Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't give any brand the power to be anyone's "Jesus badge.”
